Digital Illustration, Character Design, Poster Design
Concept Key Words:
Fun - Relatable - Exciting

Concept Overview
The 'Finn World' poster is a snapshot of an aspirational modern city, with the world as your oyster and a variety of possibilities in what you can do and who you can be! The Finn World city has a global population and a variety of amenities. The aesthetic employed creates a grounded yet, fun and playful environment. The use of simplistic design style and typography, allows the focus to be maintained on the content while keeping the art characteristic enough to be engaging but not overpowering.
The Challenge
-
To include a variety of scenes, elements, and characters in a small visual landscape.
-
To develop a character style well suited to the application, to avoid cliche characters.
-
To develop a poster that appeals as energetic-cool-relatable to the kids and as a learning environment that is inclusive, diverse, reliable and value-laden for the parents
The Process
Learning about the business, its vision, mission, ideal customer, competition and taste preferences through a questionnaire
Step 1
Step 2
Coming up with composition options; was particularly tricky due to the requirement for several elements, scenes, and characters to be included in a manner without cluttering a small visual space.
Step 3
Exploring different types of Character Design and Colour Palettes.
In the end, minimal animated character design was the way to go as it was expressive enough to distinguish between characters and allowed for breathing space in the composition. The Colour palette chosen has deep yet vibrant hues, which appeal to the younger audience and their parents. Additionally, the colours automatically create a culturally and creatively diverse environment.
Step 4
After the Composition, Character Design, and Colour Pallete were finalised I went in to create the poster, we had 3 rounds of meetings to make any adjustments required.
